Using more than 28 years in the leather furniture industry on a manufacturer and retail level we compiled a list to help you understand more about leather brands. Every one wants to tell you they make the best furniture
so at times it can get confusing.We tried to be objective as possible and rank these brands on 6 different factors.These are strictly our opinions. We carry many of these products and are not biased, they all have a place in
the market. Most every manufacturer feels they make the best product, but realistically they fall into a certain category as compared to their peers.
Many factors come into play here (climate,amount of use, size and weight of user, children, application ie:residential or commercial etc.) as durability and lifespan are dictated .
Warranties are not always indicative to a quality product, some manufacturers over warranty than fall short on servicing .
It is generally recognized that solid hardwoods for framing, springs of coil shape, and heavy innersprings cushions will provide longer use
and comfort than products built with lesser specifications. Always purchase the best that is in your budget and you should enjoy many years of use from your leather upholstery. 1 being poor , 10 being excellent.

The Language Of Leather
Full or Pure Aniline
- The finest leather available,always made from premium -quality, full-top grain hides(the suface of the hide has not been mechanically altered)
- The softest, most luxurious and natural looking leather
- More likely to fade and stain, will feature noticable range marks, barbed wire scars, wrinkles, scratches and brands.
- Unretouched, resulting in subtle color and shading differences from hide to hide and even within the same hide.
- Generally more expensive than other types of leather.
- Top 5% of world hide supply
Semi Aniline
- High quality. high value, always top grain
- Soft and beautiful;durable and practical
- Often coated with clear sealant to enhance stain resistance.
- Slightly more uniform in color and texture than full aniline.
- Fewer noticeable range marks because of top finishing.
- Generally less expensive than full aniline leather.
- Falls into top 10% of world hide supply.
Nubuck Leather
- High quality,top grain leather buffed or sanded to a velvety, sueded like nap.
- More likely to fade or stain, will feature noticable range marks and barbed wire scratches,wrinkles,healed scars,manure burns.
- Usual the softest of leathers, more durable than a true suede that is produced from the lower quality split of leather.
- Falls into top 10-15% of world hide supply
Pigmented Leather
- Least likely to fade or stain.
- Opaque dyes and pigments create uniform coloration that minimize natural marks and scars.
- Excellent durability with minimal maintenance.
- Falls into top 20-30% of world hide supply
